We Built Gainesville Restore Because the Standard Was Broken
Too many homeowners were paying for mold jobs with no documentation, no clearance testing, and no way to prove the work was done. We decided to do it differently.
Started by a Restorer Who Saw What Was Wrong
James Whitfield spent 12 years in water damage restoration across North Central Florida before founding Gainesville Restore in 2014. In those 12 years, he saw the same pattern repeat: homeowners receiving incomplete mold jobs with no written scope, no containment documentation, no independent clearance test, and no way to prove to their insurer, their real estate attorney, or the next tenant that the problem was actually resolved.
He started Gainesville Restore with one operating principle: every job closes with documentation that stands up to any review. Not a verbal opinion that the area looks clean. A signed lab clearance report from an independent assessor, daily moisture logs during drying, timestamped photographs from before containment to after clearance, and a written record that proves the work met the standard it was supposed to meet.
That principle has driven every hire, every equipment investment, and every protocol decision since 2014. It is why we hold a Florida mold remediation license and why we coordinate with independent licensed assessors on every remediation job rather than writing our own scope.
